In the evening light, this proud sentinel of the sea bids welcome to homebound sailors and welcomes ferry passengers to Nantucket's many charms. This lovely and well-known lighthouse on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts was first built in 1746. Through the years, a total of 10 light structures and 7 lights were active at the site. The last construction in 1901 remains an active aid to navigation today.
